A new office is more than a new address.
For Smatek, our new Shenzhen workspace represents the next stage in how we develop, test and support wall-mounted control panel platforms for smart home and building automation applications.
Covering approximately 2,000 m², the new space brings together hardware and software engineering, reliability testing, product demonstration, project discussions, after-sales analysis, warehousing and everyday team collaboration.
Rather than simply showing the office itself, we would like to take you inside the different areas behind our products and projects.

A New Space for the Next Stage of Smatek
Since 2012, Smatek has continued to develop its role as a hardware platform partner for companies building their own smart home, building automation, room control and embedded control solutions.
Our typical cooperation model is not based on providing a fixed software ecosystem.
Instead, Smatek focuses on the hardware platform, base operating system, hardware interfaces and project-specific customization, while our partners normally retain control of their own application, UI, system logic and ecosystem.
The new office gives our engineering and project teams a more integrated environment to support this type of development.

An Open Workspace for Everyday Collaboration
Much of the new office is designed around open collaboration. Hardware engineers, software engineers, project teams and commercial teams work within the same overall environment, helping reduce the distance between technical development and customer requirements.
For an OEM or ODM project, this matters because product development rarely follows a single straight line.
A mechanical change may affect the PCB layout.
A new interface may affect both hardware and software.
A different power architecture may affect installation and certification considerations.
Bringing different functions closer together helps make these discussions more efficient.

Hardware and Software Development
Hardware Engineering
Hardware development remains at the center of Smatek work.
Depending on the project, development may involve processor selection, mainboard architecture, power design, communication interfaces, wireless modules, sensors, display integration, enclosure structure and installation methods.
Existing standard platforms can often be used as a starting point, while larger OEM/ODM programs may require deeper changes to the mainboard, power board, enclosure, mounting system or overall product architecture.

Software and System-Level Support
Smatek standard cooperation model is designed for customers that want to retain control over their own software and ecosystem.
We normally provide the hardware platform, base operating system and relevant hardware interface information, while the customer develops and maintains its application, UI and system logic.
Our software work therefore focuses primarily on the underlying platform, system adaptation and the interface between customer software and hardware.

Reliability Testing as Part of Product Development
A wall-mounted control panel may remain powered and connected for years. For that reason, product verification cannot stop when a prototype boots successfully.
Mechanical durability, environmental conditions, software stability, network behavior, audio performance and long-term operation all need to be considered as a design moves toward production.
The new Smatek office therefore includes several dedicated reliability and testing areas.
Hardware Reliability Laboratory
The Hardware Reliability Laboratory focuses on physical durability, structural reliability and lifecycle-related verification. Testing can be used to evaluate conditions such as:
mechanical impact, vibration, drop resistance, connector lifecycle, button lifecycle, structural strength, abrasion and accelerated aging.
These tests provide engineering data that can support product optimization before mass production.

Environmental Reliability Laboratory
Products installed in different countries and buildings can experience very different operating environments. The Environmental Reliability Laboratory is used to simulate temperature and humidity conditions that may affect components, materials and complete products.
Testing can include temperature cycling, high- and low-temperature operation, humidity exposure and thermal shock-related conditions.

Software Reliability Testing
For an embedded control panel, stable long-term operation is just as important as hardware reliability. The Software Reliability Test Laboratory focuses on continuous operation and repeated real-world usage scenarios.
Testing can include functional cycling, device temperature monitoring, memory and CPU monitoring, Wi-Fi compatibility, weak-network conditions, network disconnection and recovery, multi-device interaction and fault recovery.

Electroacoustic Laboratory
Microphones and speakers are increasingly important in wall-mounted panels used for intercom, voice interaction and room communication.
The Electroacoustic Laboratory provides a dedicated environment for evaluating microphones, speakers and complete audio systems.
Testing may involve parameters such as sensitivity, frequency response, electrical noise, channel delay, harmonic distortion, signal-to-noise ratio and other audio-related characteristics.

A Showroom Built Around the Product
One of the central areas in the new office is the Smatek showroom. Rather than displaying only finished-looking products, the showroom also presents some of the hardware and structural elements behind them.
Visitors can see different panel sizes, processor platforms, PCBAs, display structures, mounting concepts and other development components.

The space is designed to reflect the way we normally approach OEM and ODM projects.
A standard product is often not the final destination. It is a proven hardware starting point that can be adapted around the customer’s own software, product positioning, installation requirements and system architecture.

Wall-Mounted Control Panel Platforms
Smatek current platforms cover multiple screen sizes, processor architectures, installation formats and power options.
Depending on the project, customization can extend to: enclosure design, materials, mounting structure, mainboard architecture, power solution, communication interfaces, wireless modules, sensors and other hardware requirements.

From Materials to Product Concepts
Product development is not only about electronics.
Industrial design, materials, surface treatment, structural concepts and prototyping can all influence how a final product looks, feels and installs.
A dedicated creative area in the showroom displays different materials, finishes and prototype-related elements for reference during new product development.

Spaces for Customer and Project Discussions
Technical projects require many kinds of discussion.
Some are formal project reviews.
Some involve engineering details.
Others are early-stage conversations about product direction or future cooperation.
The new office includes several different meeting environments for these purposes.

A More Informal Reception Environment
For longer customer visits and more relaxed discussions, the office also includes a dedicated reception tea room. It provides a quieter setting away from the main engineering and office areas.

Space for the Team
A working environment is not only made up of desks, meeting rooms and laboratories. The new office also includes dedicated spaces where colleagues can take a break, have an informal conversation or simply step away from their workstations for a while.

Our lounge provides a comfortable place for everyday breaks, with snacks, fruit, drinks and coffee available for the team. It is also a convenient space for lunch or a quick conversation outside the usual working environment.
We have also created a separate recreation room where colleagues can relax together after work, with a pool table and table tennis available.

As the new office continues to develop, we are also considering adding some fitness equipment to make the space more useful for the team.
For us, these areas are not meant to replace the working environment, but to complement it by giving people a place to recharge, interact and spend some time together outside their desks.
Company Culture and Working Environment
Throughout the new office, company culture, natural light and greenery are integrated into the overall environment.
These details are not directly part of a product specification, but they help create a more comfortable and collaborative everyday workspace.

After-Sales Repair and Inspection
Product development does not necessarily end when a product ships. Returned units, abnormal field cases and project feedback may need to come back for inspection, troubleshooting and engineering analysis.
The new office includes a dedicated after-sales repair and inspection area where products can be checked and investigated when necessary.

Warehousing and Project Operations
Behind development and testing, projects also require organized material and product management.
Dedicated warehouse areas are used for components, project materials, semi-finished items and finished products at different stages.
Clearer storage and zoning help support project preparation, sample builds, pilot production and subsequent order requirements.

More Than a New Office
The new Smatek office gives us more space, but the real value is not the additional square meters.
It is the ability to bring more of the product-development process together: hardware engineering, software support, reliability testing, product evaluation, customer communication, after-sales analysis and project operations.
For our OEM and ODM partners, the direction remains the same. We aim to provide a practical and configurable hardware foundation that allows our customers to retain control of their own software, UI, system logic and market positioning.
We don’t build brands.
We build the platforms behind them.
If you are developing a new wall-mounted control interface for smart home, building automation, HVAC, room control or another embedded application, we would be glad to discuss your project requirements.
