KNX TP Hardware Platforms for Customer Development

For brands developing their own KNX panel product, Smatek provides NCN5130-based KNX TP hardware platforms. The KNX TP base communicates with the mainboard through a serial interface, allowing the customer to develop its own software, UI and KNX stack.

1. What is the difference between the standard KNX panels and the KNX TP hardware platforms?

The standard KNX panels include Smatek software and ETS configuration files, providing a ready-to-use control interface for building automation projects. The KNX TP hardware platforms are designed for customers developing their own application, UI and KNX stack. The two product routes use different KNX base architectures and are intended for different development models.

2. How are the standard KNX panels configured?

The standard KNX panels are configured through ETS files, allowing the required devices and control functions to be set up according to the project requirements.

3. Which devices can be controlled by the standard KNX software?

The current standard software supports up to 150 devices, including switch control, dimming lights, tunable white lights, RGB lighting, curtains, air conditioning, fresh-air systems and floor heating.

4. Which standard KNX panels are CE marked and KNX certified?

The 4” S6KE and 10” S9KE standard KNX touch panels are available as CE-marked and KNX-certified models. For other models, private-label versions and customer-development platforms, the applicable conformity-assessment and certification route should be evaluated according to the final product configuration and project scope.

5. Can the standard KNX panels be supplied for private-label projects?

Yes. Standard KNX panels can be supplied for private-label projects. For selected programs with defined requirements and volume plans, UI adaptation or further software development can also be evaluated according to the project scope.

6. Which standard KNX panel supports local APK upload?

The 10” S9KE supports local APK upload. Users can scan the QR code in the panel’s App section and upload up to three third-party APK files from a mobile phone connected to the same local network. Each APK file must not exceed 100 MB. Please note that the panel does not include Google Mobile Services (GMS), and compatibility with third-party applications cannot be guaranteed.

7. Can we develop our own application, UI and KNX stack on the KNX TP platforms?

Yes. The KNX TP platforms are designed for customer development. Smatek provides the panel hardware and an NCN5130-based KNX TP base that communicates with the mainboard through a serial interface, while your team develops the application, UI and KNX stack.
